Emails entitled “Customer Services (Orange Notification)” are being sent out by cybercriminals in an attempt to trick recipients into handing over their login credentials.

The fake Orange emails spotted by Hoax Slayer read something like this: “Congratulations on joining one of the largest network in the world! Dear Member, We are contacting you to inform you that We've added new features in your account profile. And We have updated our members accounts. (A few things the Orange want inform you about).”

In reality, the emails have nothing to do with the telecoms company. Users who click on the links from these messages are taken to a bogus Orange website where they’re instructed to log into their account.

By doing so, internauts are actually handing over their username and password to the fraudsters. Once the information is safely stored on a server controlled by the cybercriminals, the victim is directed to the genuine Orange website in order to avoid raising any suspicion.

If you come across such emails, delete them at once. If you’re a victim of this scam, make sure you change your Orange password, and the passwords for other online accounts in case you use the same one.
