If you ever come across an email such as the one from the above screenshot, you should act with caution, since chances are that you’re dealing with a malicious phishing scam.

Cybercriminals are sending out bogus Suncorp Bank emails in an attempt to trick the financial institution’s customers into handing over sensitive information.

Entitled “Important message,” the emails spotted by Hoax Slayer read something like this:

“Please note that your Suncorp Banking Online Services Account is about to expire due to new database transfiguration on our system. please Copy the security link. [Link] to prevent account from fraudulent activities. Note: If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to suspend your account.”

Victims of this scam are taken to a bogus Suncorp website where they’re asked to hand over account login credentials, and personal and financial information. The submitted information ends up in the hands of cybercriminals who can use it for all sorts of fraudulent activities.
