New entry-level mobile for the Phillips fans

The word is out that the new Phillips Xenium was just approved by the FCC and there is no doubt that it needs a proper presentation, especially since this is the first Phillips production we have heard of in a very long time.

The new Xenium is a candy bar shaped, sleek and shiny black GSM phone that comes with a few basic features that most mobile phone users can't do without, such as an organizer, money converter, calculator and T9 interface for a more practical messaging experience.

For an entry-level mobile phone it is actually pretty well equipped, also featuring a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 65k color screen and both Bluetooth and Infrared for connectivity.

As for entertainment, Phillips Xenium has a few java games to offer and since it is GPRS compatible, WAP browsing will also be possible. Another extra feature in this phone would be Sound recording.

The phone can record up to 12 minutes of sound depending on how much free internal memory is available. The new Xenium will provide the basic users with everything they need.

They will be able to take snapshots with the built-in camera, send them to their friends by MMS or E-mail or store them on their PC by connecting to it through Bluetooth or Infrared.

There is no word on pricing or availability so far, but I suspect it won't be long before we find out more.
