Phillips is an eco-conscious company that will spare no efforts in turning bees into common pets. Its innovative eco-friendly project entitled the Microbial Home continues to surprise us, as it plans to make us more familiar with the amazing Urban Beehive concept.

The futuristic gadget allows us to watch the hard-working bees perform their daily routine, since it is made of see-through materials. All you have to do is sit back, relax, enjoy your morning coffee and let the bees do their job, reports the Daily Mail.

The new “pets” will show you a new way of enjoying your time at home. Their sound and movement will most likely inspire you through the day. Bee-pets might not be able to bring your slippers in bed or fetch the paper, but they will give you free access to a sweet treat: fresh “homemade” honey.

The prototype is made of two parts: a quite common flower pot and entry passage are located on the outside wall, while the amazing-looking hive hangs indoors.

The main idea is to bring bees one step closer, from their natural habitats into our own bedrooms, so that their presence can help us de-stress, while guaranteeing to sweeten our daily coffee with the result of their work.

Besides the fresh honey it provides, the Urban Beehive aims to increase the pollination rate, a strategy considerably important for the security of the entire food chain.

Moreover, it provides an efficient, long-term solution to the bee decline, a so far unexplained phenomenon experts tend to correlate with the continued boost in air pollution.

‘Designers have an obligation to explore solutions which are by nature less energy-consuming and non-polluting,” affirms Clive van Heerden, one of the members of Philips Design group.

Philips manages to exceed all expectations showcasing new improvements meant to revolutionize our perception of modern households.

It highlights that the waste generated by a home definitely has to power another. As for the Urban Beehive, it will definitely become one of the hottest green trends in no time, since it takes beekeeping to a whole other level.
