Royal Philips Electronics presented yesterday a new type of high performance LCD for cell phones. Designed to improve the quality of the multimedia files' playback, Nemesis P8894-I is the first model to use LifePix, a technology whose algorithms reproduce colors similarly to the human eye. LifePix technology is compatible with the Series 60 platform, and is included in the Symbian system, easing in this way the implementation and retailing of the new solution. The screen measures 41.2 x 53,8 mm, allows switching to reduced power consumption and combines excellent color quality with a backlighting solution, ensuring in this way perfect display even if light falls directly on the phone. The company said the 2.1 inch size provides a 352 x 416 pixel resolution, which is twice what similar current models offer. From the same source we find out that with LifePix the colors' fidelity is 40% better compared to classic LCDs. The innovative Nemesis P8894-1 display solution is already available for implementation and comes equipped with all required interfaces. Philips ships its display with or without metallic frame depending on the phone model which will contain it.
