Despite marking a whole new evolutionary step in image processing technology, Philips' line of LCD TVs with a built-in Perfect Pixel HD graphics processing engine went fairly under the radar back at CES 2007, when it was first announced. However, since then, customers have begun to discover the image quality and interesting options provided by these TV sets, and thus the company has decided to complete its line-up (which included 42, 47 and 52-inch models) with yet another offering, namely the 32-inch model.

There's quite a lot to be said about this LCD TV set, but I'll start with its most important selling point, namely the aforementioned Perfect Pixel HD engine, which,
according to the company, is capable of providing a very high sharpness level, natural details, vivid colors and even enhances each and every single pixel of the incoming picture in order to better match the surrounding ones. Moreover, it helps reduce the artefacts and noise generated by the multimedia signal sources, thus leading to an improved viewing experience.

Another important component of the device is the Ambilight system, which automatically and independently adapts its colors according to the changing content on the screen, in order to enhance the viewing experience.

But that's enough talk, and now it's about time to get down and dirty with the actual features provided by Philips' LCD. Thus, the device includes a WXGA Active Matrix TFT display, capable of attaining a widescreen HD resolution of 1366 x 768p, 4 speakers (capable of generating an output power of up to 2 x 8W RMS) as well as enhanced sound and image processing features. Moreover, the display provides a 16:9 aspect ratio (up to 6 widescreen modes available), a brightness level of 550 cd/m2, a typical contrast ratio of 1200:1 and a whopping 8000:1 dynamic screen contrast.

The device also provides a wide range of connectivity options. Thus, beside the already standard HDMI, SCART, YpbPR, SPDIF, etc. interfaces, the LCD also features a built-in DVB-T tuner, as well as an USB 1.1 port, which allows users to access multimedia content directly.

The 32-inch Philips Cineos Flat TV with Perfect Pixel HD Engine retails for around 2000 US dollars, which is by no means a small price to pay for an LCD TV, but those who are looking for a true high-end home-entertainment experience will surely fork out this sum, taking into consideration what this advanced LCD set has to offer.
