The handset will be released in Korea

A new handset from Philips is heading for the Korean market. The S900 is a triband phone operating in GSM900/1800/1900 MHz networks.

The cellphone has a slim and compact body, measuring 109 x 51 x 13 mm and weighing 93.3 grams. A LCD TFT touchscreen is present, supporting a 176 x 220 pixel resolution in 262k colors, and it can be used to quickly input text using handwritten characters.

For the entertainment part, the handset allows users to take pictures using the built-in 2 megapixel camera or listen to music thanks to the integrated MP3 player. Photos and music can be stored on 10 MB of internal memory that can be expanded by using miniSD memory cards.

Connectivity features of the phone include Bluetooth, IrDA and USB. A WAP browser can be used for surfing the Internet, while SMS, MMS and email serve the purposes of text communication. Among the applications found on the handset there are: an English-Chinese dictionary, organizer, Java games, calculator, and timer. The phone is powered by a Li-Ion battery.
