Philips has released a new firmware for their BDP9700/12, /98 and /93 Blu-ray Players. Version 3.80 fixes a handful of issues, among which is the greenish picture observed at certain operations.

With this update, the problems regarding the SACD DSD being outputted as 2CH PCM on HDMI2 have been fixed as well as the intermittent hangs of the SACD hybrid disc.

The compatibility with AV receivers has been improved and the red color menu overlapping Euronews' page in Smart TV has been taken care of.

This update includes the fixes included in all previous releases; therefore, if you haven't updated since version 3.71.0,1 you will see improvements in Blu-ray disc playability, SACD behavior, HDMI connection and overall playback performance.

To install, copy the contents of the archive to a formatted flash drive. Make sure there are no discs in the player and insert the USB stick.

Surf through the menu and, under the “Advanced” section of the “Setup” tab, select “Software update.” Select “USB” and start updating.

Below is the link to the firmware. Click the link and, according to the Blu-ray player model, download, install and stay “updated one minute ago.”
