Someone walked in Creative's shoes, when designing the 3300 series! I didn't mentione Philips, did I? Ups! Apparently, the fellows from Philips were kind of busy recently with the introduction of a new line of flash players.
The new comer was dubbed SA 3300 and resembles the previous SA6000 line. One of the main differences between the two of them is the storage
capacity size that comes in 1GB, 2Gb, 4 GB and the extra 8GB capacity.
On the outside, the device wears a black glossy look and reveals a generous QVGA LCD display of 2.4 inches, though they kept the same 320 x 240 pixels resolution and the 65k color pattern. Regarding the player's capacity, its supported formats have been limited to less formats available on the market, such as the Philips proprietary SMV, or WMV DRM, but it can also deal with other popular formats like MPEG-4 at 30fps, as well as WMV. Needless to say, it can read MP3 and WMA.
The manufacturers have also improved the battery's life, so that it can run up to 20 hours of audio content and no less than 4 hours for the video one. With the integrated equalizer settings you can customize the player's sound with one of the available modes.
Other important feature would be the FM radio that makes the player so useful while commuting or traveling, since you can sing along with your favorite artist, while following the lyrics on the on-screen display which is also ID tag supported. And if you're in the mood of storing some funny memos from friends, the built-in microphones allow voice recording, though I sincerely doubt it can deliver professional recording.
What's more? The new series is supported by the Philips video converter software that can convert your video files, a great file management and no need for an additional software before use. It can be charged from your PC or via USB. No word on pricing and availability, yet!
