Hackers claiming to be part of Anonymous Philippines have taken over the official Twitter account of the country’s Department of Social Welfare and Development (@dswdserve).

The department’s representatives have set up a new account, @DSWDserves, and they’re advising everyone to stop following the old one.

The DSWD’s Information and Communications Technology Management Service is currently working with Twitter on getting the hacked account suspended.

“The hackers are confusing the public at this time when we need to be communicating clearly regarding information related to the on-going relief, rehabilitation and other efforts of the government on typhoon ‘Pablo’,” Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman explained in a statement.

In addition, officials inform Twitter users that disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts for the Pablo typhoon carry the #reliefPH and #PabloPH hashtags.

At the time of writing, the compromised account was still active and controlled by the Anonymous hackers.
