More than a week has passed since the most devastating typhoon ever recorded has struck the Philippines. As some of you might know, Ricoh (Pentax) has a large camera factory based in Mactan Economic Processing zone, an area that lies just outside the direct path of Typhoon Haiyan in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu.

According to Amateur Photographer, a Ricoh Imaging UK spokesperson declared that “The Ricoh Imaging factory was not affected in any way and all employees are safe.” He then added “Short-term logistics are challenging. However, Ricoh Imaging UK does not envisage any supply issues.”

The factory in Philippines makes the Pentax flagship medium-format 645D camera, as well as the new K-3 digital SLR and some Q-mount cameras.

It seems that the factory hasn't suffered any severe damage and production is at full capacity. The sole problem will be short-term logistics, as most of the cities crossed by Typhoon Haiyan are in ruins.
