Pharos Unveils Windows Mobile-Based 565 PDA

Pharos has recently announced officially the release of a new rugged PDA, which comes to the market as Pharos 565. The new mobile handset comes with a nice range of features packed inside, including a powerful Marvell PXA310 624 MHz application processor, which is coupled with 256 MB of DDR SDRAM and with 512 MB of Flash ROM.

The new device is powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, and features a full QWERTY keyboard on the front. At the same time, the new compact, ruggedized PDA also sports a 3.5-inch TFT display with touchscreen capabilities and which can boast a QVGA resolution, as well as a nice range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.

Among the other specifications of the new mobile device we can also count built-in GPS receiver for fast positioning, support for traditional IrDA, RAW IR/SIR, serial RS-232, USB interfaces, as well as the fact that it is compliant with the International Protection Rating (IP54) standard and can resist a drop in a range of 4 ~ 5 feet. And there is also a rechargeable Li-ion 3.7V 1880mAh battery inside the phone, capable of delivering enough usage time, or long standby time.

Here's what the company also notes about the new ruggedized Windows Mobile 6.5 PDA: “It includes the complete Office Mobile suite of applications. The unit is perfect for anyone who needs a complete mobile organizer, multimedia entertainment, and GPS navigation in a convenient, compact, and easy-to-use package. The package includes the 565 PDA, a long-life Li-Ion Polymer battery, AC adapter, USB cable, and the software you need to get started.”

According to Pharos, the new 565 rugged PDA measures 5.7 x 3.1 x 1 inches, comes with a microSD memory card slot with support for SDHC, and with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Other features and capabilities are also there with the handset, powered by the Windows Mobile OS included inside it, and Pharos says they are all available for purchase for $529.95.
