PfSense, a free, open source customized distribution of FreeBSD tailored for use as a firewall and router, is now at version 2.0.1. PfSense 2.0.1 is a maintenance release and is recommended for all installations. Users can upgrade from any previous release directly to version 2.0.1.
The changelog is quite large and it covers a lot of areas, from stability to various networking fixes. Here are some of the more important changes in PfSense 2.0.1:
· The ability to kill relayd when restarting has been added;
· DNS load balancing is now available;
· RRD upgrade/migration and backup problems have been fixed;
· Policy route negation for VPN networks has been fixed;
· LDAP custom port handling has been repaired;
· CARP status widget will now properly show “disabled” status;
· Clarified text for media selection.
