14 DAY TRIAL // Brian Taylor, a 45-year-old petrol junkie, was arrested after repeatedly drinking petrol from public gas stations. Even if he was ordered by court ruling to stay away from all garage pumps, he was caught once again just on New Year's Eve.
The addict was caught on tape delighting himself with some sips of fuel from a garage close to his home and now faces jail time after flouting a court order. The last time he got caught, he was warned that any future felonies would mean jail time, but it didn't seem to convince him.
The first time Taylor's petrol thirst made it to the headlines was in 2005 when he was accused of sneaking into the same garage 51 times to steal fuel. It may seem his addiction got the best of him and the serial offender was apprehended getting high with petrol fumes once again.
The addict even has his own high-on-petrol special dance that he does each time he gets high on fuel. He was forced to attend meetings in order to get rid of his bizarre habit but was kicked out for smelling too strongly of petrol and being a potential hazard for the other attendees.
The man had been literary fueling his addiction for more than 10 years and has been the subject of countless prohibitions after breaking into several gas stations. The defendant “has a history of attacking petrol pumps, obtaining petrol and consuming it,” Guy Prest, prosecutor for the case said, according to Mirror News.
The man was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison and was suspended for 12 months besides having to pay almost $200 (€145) for damages and victim surcharge. Magistrates believed his previous warning would work and the local nuisance would stay away from petrol but were disappointed to see him back in court for the same offenses.
