Dump The Donald, he doesn’t reflect the “magic of Macy’s,” it says

Donald Trump has made countless headlines these past couple of months, mostly for speaking on issues close to his heart. Now, the people too are trying to make their voices heard – with a petition to Macy’s.

Following years of misbehaving and of hypocrisy, Trump is the last person Macy’s would want to collaborate with, the petition reads.

Its target is of 475,000 signatures (of which it’s already gotten about 460,000) and its purpose is to show Macy’s that The Donald must be dumped to the curb.

“Macy's: Donald Trump does not reflect the ‘magic of Macy's.’ We urge you to sever ties with him. Macy's says it has a strong obligation to be ‘socially responsible’ and that ‘actions speak louder than words.’ Indeed. It's time to act,” the petition says.

It goes on to list some of the reasons Trump’s name should no longer be associated with that of Macy’s, including his sexist behavior, his hypocrisy on countless issues, including overseas jobs, his attitude towards climate change, and his obsession with President Barack Obama, whom he constantly “challenges” in the press.

“Macy's has a special deal with Donald Trump. They invest in developing Trump's brand and sell his clothing line and fragrance at their locations,” says the petition.

“To this end, they have had major events at Macy's Herald Square location and they often feature and promote Trump in advertisements designed to celebrate the magic of Macy's. Recently, Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren sent Donald Trump a letter touting how excited Macy's was to be working with Trump and promising to expand Trump's brand even further than it already is,” it adds, before asking what reason Macy’s has to be “celebrating Trump.”

As of now, neither Trump nor Macy’s has acknowledged the petition but, suffice it to say, it’s making the rounds online, gathering more signatures by the hour.

We’ll see if it actually leads to something.
