A petition on Change.org is presenting lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret with the biggest challenge yet: that of making a gorgeous and very popular model their first trans Angel. Her name is Carmen Carrera and her photo is also attached to this article.

Carmen appeared on RuPaul’s hit series Drag Race on season 3 and, as the petition also puts it, she’s been making waves in fashion ever since. She made the transition shortly after the show, so she’d be perfect for the position of a VS model.

“She famously became the first contestant to come out as a transgender woman and transition after the show. Since then she's been a successful model doing ads for Orbitz, features in W Magazine, and has taken the NY and LA runways by storm! She’s an inspiration to me and the millions of people who identify as LGBT,” says the petition.

Becoming an Angel with Victoria’s Secret is one of the biggest jobs a model can land, with the company having already launched the careers of some of the biggest names in modeling. Gisele Bundchen, for one, is one of the top earning models for years and she too was an Angel.

The petition argues that Carmen is also a “force to be reckoned with” pretty much like any other world-famous Angel, but all she needs now is a launching pad. VS could be it.

“By asking Carmen to be a model, Victoria's Secret would show the entire community that they embrace trans patrons. There are so many prejudices toward the trans community, even within the LGBT community, and many trans individuals are not seen as real people,” the text reads.

“To see a transgender model walk would show that trans women are to be taken seriously and that Angels are selected because of their character and talent. As a brand, Victoria's Secret should feel comfortable marketing towards ALL types of women,” the petition further says.

Over 30,000 people have already signed in support of the petition, which means that less than 5,000 signatures are still needed. Victoria’s Secret has responded to such campaigns before, and the person who started this one is confident they will do the same again.
