The game needs to focus more on its core mechanics

Video game developer Peter Molyneux, the original creator of the Dungeon Keeper concept, says that the newly launched mobile free-to-play version of the game needs more work and is not yet right when it comes to the core mechanics.

VG247 quotes the creator as saying that, "I don’t think they got it quite right, the balance between keeping it familiar to the fans that were out there but fresh enough and understandable enough for this much bigger mobile audience."

Molyneux says that the studio working on the new Dungeon Keeper should focus on the core mechanics of dungeon creation rather than forcing players to deal with microtransactions and a number of limits that can only be overcome by paying.

Developer Mythic and publisher Electronic Arts have defended the new release, but some gamers have claimed that bad releases of the title are being scrubbed from the Internet.

The new Dungeon Keeper has not yet been announced for the PC, handhelds or home consoles.
