Undeniably, vampires are the hottest thing right now both in film and literature, so it’s little wonder people have been talking so much about them lately. One vampire that does not make it on the hot list is Dr. Carlisle Cullen from “The Twilight Saga,” played by Peter Facinelli.

According to Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers, Facinelli cuts a rather sad figure as a vampire. In fact, Travers believes Carlisle is perhaps the worst vampire ever to have seen the light of day, as Entertainment Tonight can confirm.

In a recent piece, Travers puts in his two cents, saying that, while Facinelli is actually a very good actor who can deliver solid performances, his Carlisle is quite bad.

His Carlisle is the worst, come to think of it, Travers believes. Moreover, he even says it so in his “Best and Worst Vampires on Film and TV” list.

“Facinelli is a solid actor, but playing Carlisle Cullen, the white-haired head of the fang-challenged Cullen vampire family, he looks about as terrifying as ‘Project Runway’ winner Austin Scarlett, whom Carlisle closely resembles,” Travers writes.

While most actors and actresses would probably be very upset by this, Facinelli chooses to see the funny side of it, while also stressing that, in Meyer’s original story (and the films, implicitly) Carlisle is not even a vampire in the traditional sense.

That is to say, as fans must know, because the Cullen clan is one of “vegetarian” bloodsuckers, meaning, they don’t feed on humans but on the blood of wild animals, they’re not really vampires.

“YES! I finally came in Number 1 in something. Thank you Mr. Travers,” Facinelli tweets in response to being named the worst vampire ever to appear on film or on television.

“As Carlisle is a compassionate humanitarian, and anti-vampire in nature, being the worst vampire was quite the compliment. Although, you had me at ‘solid actor’. :)” the actor goes on to say.

“I did find the comparison to Austin Scarlett utterly ridiculous though... He has way better cheek bones,” Peter adds, once more showing why he’s so incredibly popular and beloved by fans.

While Peter Facinelli made Travers’ list at the bottom, Bela Lugosi’s take on Count Dracula made it at number one, as the best vampire ever to grace a screen.
