Yes PSP owners and fans of the black handheld gaming system from Sony, the PSP Store is happening and it's going to host a lot of great content including games, video and audio files for you to download and enjoy. More than that, Sony's starting to admit that they should have done it a long time ago.

When asked whether the PSP Store will focus on movies and music, Peter Dille, SCEA's senior vice president of marketing confirmed come of the existing speculations about the upcoming Internet service (but not directly) and acknowledged that Sony should have been more persistent in this area prior to now, as NextGeneration reports today:

"We were a little bit coy about revealing all of the plans, but I think all of the above? The missing ingredient for us has been making it easier for consumers to get video content or music content to the PSP, because the device has this awesome technical playback capability, awesome screen built for video and yet we don't make it terribly easy for people to access any content. So we're looking to fix that. We've got a lot of people hard at work on it we look forward to rolling that plan out and that service out later this year. But be patient, we hope it won't be much further."

Then Peter Dille says another magic word - Killzone: "And then the one we've been holding back on is Killzone, so it's a good reason for you to come to E3, because we'll have some updates on that. By all means, you need to save something to keep people interested."

We hope it won't be much further until the service is released either - me in front of everyone. Every time I tried to convince myself that a PSP is a good deal, I stumbled upon obstacles that I just couldn't get out of the way in time to build up trust in the system:

- the lack of serious titles - titles that were serious, were short - being short kept me asking for more - asking for more I would have to buy games constantly, not wanting to mod my PSP - then again, I'd mod it so I could watch movies and run different apps, and so on...

You see what I've been going through with Sony's handheld out there on the market? But this time I'm sure that getting a PSP is a good deal, having such a wonderful service. Of course, I'm not even thinking about it until PSP Store is officially announced, or released.
