Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was arrested yesterday after he attacked a Mirror journalist.
Pete attended last night a police station in Tottenham, North London with his lawyer, for questioning regarding an incident that took place last Tuesday, at north London's Boogaloo pub.
The journalist, Laurie Hanna, 24, claims he approached Doherty and said: "Nice to meet you. I don't want to waste anyone's time but my name's Laurie Hanna, I'm from the Daily Mirror, have you got time for a quick 10-minute chat?"
But Doherty, when he found out Hanna was working for The Mirror, without any provocation (according to the reporter), punched him, exclaiming: "What is it your paper calls me - f***king junkie scum?" Hanna, 24, was hospitalized for bruising and swelling.
Doherty has now been released on bail until next month.
Pete Doherty, born March 12, 1981, UK, was the co-frontman and songwriter with Carl Barat, of British punk and garage rock revivalists The Libertines. He is currently the frontman for the band Babyshambles.
Since 2003, he has become known to the public at large as a result of his addiction to drugs and his recent relationship with model Kate Moss.
Doherty was expelled from The Libertines as a result of erratic behavior caused by his drug addiction.
In July 2003, he broke into Barat's Marylebone flat and stole some items, including a laptop and an antique guitar, and was sentenced to six months in prison, with the second three months as a suspended sentence.
In present, Doherty is undergoing a rehabilitation using Naltroxene, which prevents the opiates in heroin from causing a "high", after four or five failed drug rehabilitation attempts.
