As a rule, Peter “Pete” Burns usually makes the news with eccentric headlines such as “Burns paid £1 million for botched surgery on his lips,” or “Burns in court again,” in other words, either for his many plastic surgeries or for his brush-offs with the law. This time, it’s for something more serious, for the rocker has been admitted to the hospital to have emergency surgery on his kidneys, as the British publication the Daily Mail reveals.

Word of the surgery broke out because of Burns himself, who announced his fans via his website that he had been rushed to the hospital. He collapsed on Wednesday and was carried by an ambulance to the hospital, where he was told he had to have surgery on his kidneys ASAP. As per his own words, doctors found four stones in each kidney, but were unable to remove any of them because of complications stemming from a blockage.

Burns is currently still in hospital where, he says, he will remain for a longer period of time under medical supervision. “I’m in a very serious condition on 24 hours intravenous morphine for the pain.” the 49-year-old rocker tells on his website. “Intravenous fluid as I’m so dehydrated and the kidneys can’t retain the liquid. I’m critically ill and under 24 hours observation and will be in hospital for quite a long time.” Burns continues by saying.

For those that either don’t remember or have never been acquainted with pre-surgery Pete Burns as the frontman of Dead or Alive, which topped all the charts in the ‘80s with the hit “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record),” his name is often a constant in the British tabloid media. Still struggling to bring his career back on track, for which purpose he has starred in many British reality shows including the celebrity edition of “Big Brother,” Burns is also known for the much-mediated lawsuit he filed against one of his plastic surgeons.

In 2008, Burns was awarded £1 million by a doctor who had botched his lips, resulting in a trout pout that cost the rocker months of severe pain that literally prevented him from eating and even speaking.
