If you are the owner of a dog, you probably need a lost pet prevention system. Something like the PetSafe Micro I.D. Rescue Collar. It doesn't hold a micro-chip, but a USB flash drive that's hidden inside. So, there's no need for the rescuer to own a scanning device.

Here's how it works. Insert the pet info in the USB flash memory. If you lose your dog, the rescuer will have to take a look inside the PetSafe Micro I.D. Rescue Collar while you will pray and hope that the person who finds it has a PC with Windows XP SP2/Windows 2000 SP4, Windows 98 SE*/ Mac OS X.

You can introduce more than your standard address and name. And in case you never get your pet back, it'll be nice to ease his life by letting the new owner know what's his favorite food, drink, TV show, his bad habits, police record, diseases and favorite part of the body that need scratching (don't forget to insert data about his hair-stylist). You can pump in tons of info, but if you really want it back, be sure too make the dog appear like one of those monsters that can't be easily manipulated. If you do put in the right data, you'll surely continue chasing your Siberian Husky when it goes for the second big escape.

You can get a small collar for 39,99$, while a larger collar is also available for an extra 10$. It comes with a 2 year limited warranty for the USB flash memory. The collar is not waterproof, so don't let your dog swim in the lake while wearing this.
