It sounds too good to be true doesn't it?

Microsoft is just full of surprises this time of the year. Not only has the electronics giant rolled out a friendly holiday pack, consisting of an Xbox 360 console (Core) and a free disc of ten Xbox Live Arcade titles - the Xbox 360 Arcade, but now it is awarding another 10 such games (for free of course) to gamers who manage to persuade friends to acquire an Xbox 360.

The official report goes a little something like this: "Microsoft today announced it would reward Xbox 360 console owners and one of their chosen friends with a selection of Xbox Live Arcade titles for free when they too join the Xbox 360 experience."

Owners of an Xbox 360 console are mainly tasked with persuading a friend to purchase an Xbox 360 console. As the report hints, it shouldn't be too hard since Microsoft's machine sports games such as Halo 3, Project Gotham Racing 4, Mass Effect, BioShock and... you know the rest of them exciting titles, so all that remains is for the friend to have the necessary cash for the purchase. Yeah, they didn't mention that last part, but we felt obliged to say it. Interested? See this site! - no point in wasting any time if the offer already sounds attractive, right?

"Going into this holiday period with one of the greatest line ups in video game history is certainly a compelling reason for a friend to jump into the world of Xbox 360" commented Stephen McGill, Head of Gaming and Entertainment, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft UK. "However, this incredible offer also enforces the fact we've got an exceptional online service in Xbox Live, which truly does bring everyone together."

Waaait a minute here. Those ten free games aren't the likes of Halo 3, Mass Effect and BioShock. They're Xbox LIVE Arcade games. I didn't mention it from the beginning? Well, this report did the same thing to me. I got excited over nothing too, so why should I be the only one banging his head against the monitor?
