Telecom Serbia is introducing an innovative technology that promises to personalize SMS messages as well as make the system more similar to an advanced email application.

By using Comverse' SMS Personal and SMS Router, Telecom Serbia is able to offer SMS personalization capabilities and broaden SMS service options.

It will be possible for customers to use personalized signatures that will automatically appear on outgoing SMS messages and auto reply systems that allow the set up of out of the office auto responders in the case they are too busy to answer.

The technology also brings advantages to business users that can create virtual private networks with special user groups, short dialing numbers and Call Line Identification recognition for nicknames.

According to Zoran Stanisic, Director for Network Department of Telecom Serbia: "The new SMS Personal services expand SMS functionality, bringing SMS closer in line with user needs and with preferences for self-expression. Our users want to be able to do more with SMS, and the ongoing immense popularity of SMS gives these new services a strong business case."

Other features the service provides include the ability to forward SMS messages to other users, automatically send copies of incoming or outgoing messages to a designated email account for backup purposes or viewing on a PC that will be stored and treated as a regular e-mail message.

Mobile Telephony of Serbia currently has nearly four million users and a market share of 65.21 percent in Serbia. The mobile operator has started offering 3G services since December 2006, based on the license won in August 2006.
