Great news for Twitter fans, as the company has finally released the long-awaited Periscope application on Android platform, two months after the application was launched on iOS.

Although it took developers a few months to bring Periscope to Android, it might be worth the wait since the application proved to be very popular on iOS.

Anyway, Android users who never heard of it or simply don't know what it does, here is a short recap of Periscope features.

First of all, Periscope allows users to broadcast live video to your Twitter followers. The application will notify them and they can decide whether or not they wish to join your stream, comment and send hearts in real time.

The more hearts you get from your watchers, the higher they will flutter on the screen. Periscope keeps track of how many hearts you're getting from your followers, and when there are enough, you can even get into the “Most Loved” list.

Broadcast on Twitter or make your streams private

Periscope also allows you to make your stream available for replay after it's over, so your viewers can watch it later in case they couldn't see it live.

But there's more, as Periscope enables users to stream to specific people by simply pressing the lock icon before going live and choosing who they want to invite to their stream.

You can even choose to share your Periscope streams on Twitter by clicking on the bird icon before start streaming. Your followers will be notified when you go live via Twitter.

Periscope also allows you to adjust notification preferences, so you won't be bothered with tweets that inform you when someone's stream goes live.

You can now download Periscope for Android for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and up.
