Perez Hilton weighs in on the feud between “Glee” creator and KOL drummer: it’s homophobia, a shame

With the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter comes a “Glee” piece, including an interview with series’ creator Ryan Murphy, in which he speaks his mind about Kings of Leon’s refusal to have their songs on the show.

The other day, drummer Nathan Followill took to Twitter to tell Murphy to take a chill pill, let this go and, among other things, buy a bra and get a manicure.

His tweet was interpreted as very homophobic, because Murphy is openly gay. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, himself very open about his orientation, is now weighing on the matter.

“If that isn’t the most glaring example of homophobia, we don’t know what is. We’re appalled,” he writes on his blog about Nathan’s response to Murphy’s “[Expletive] you, Kings of Leon” message.

He personally reached out to Murphy for a response to Nathan’s tweet, which he also includes in the same post. Perez makes it a point of showing Nathan that this is the way a gentleman should act at all times.

“Just read Nathan Followill’s Tweet…in which he implied I should ‘get a manicure and buy a bra.’ Wow. That’s a homophobe badly in need of some education. I’m all for manicures, don’t wear a bra. Would guess most gay dudes don’t,” Murphy says.

“But it’s telling that Nathan can reduce a group of people to a mean-spirited cliché, in a time where young gay men are killing themselves all over the country because of hatred like this,” the series’ creator further explains.

While Murphy’s message is certainly considerably better worded than the previous one, in the THR interview, the fact that it’s Perez Hilton who chooses to be so outraged is already causing some ruckus among his fellow bloggers.

Throughout the years, Perez has been anything but kind or considerate to the celebrities he wrote about, regardless of their orientation, they’re saying.

In fact, he actually got some credibility after forcefully (and viciously, some say) outed Lance Bass of ‘N Sync, constantly writing about him on his webpage, including mean things like this.
