Today, Peplink has made available a new firmware package targeted at most of its routers, namely version 6.1.2 compatible with the Balance, Pepwave MAX, Pepwave Surf, and MediaFast devices.

The newly released update adds support for new features such as “Pepmin Remote WebUI Access,” which enables secure access to your device from anywhere, or “GPS Forwarding” that allows you to send GPS reports to a defined server.

In addition to that, the new version also includes a new “Bonjour Forwarding” feature which gives users the ability to use AirPlay, AirPrint, and other Apple apps, as well as a “Bandwidth Allowance for Redundant SIM” option.

When it comes to fixes, release 6.1.2 resolves the remote syslog messages improper behavior, changes the length of the TXT record that was set too low, and fixes a problem where the web admin wouldn’t return to the dashboard upon pressing “Apply Changes.”

Moreover, the web UI now notifies users if DNS Domain settings have missing SOA records, the PepVPN connection will not be lost anymore, and the DNS server records will always respond properly.

In terms of security, the new firmware resolves the issue where the WPA wouldn’t work if the passphrase contained the $ character, and includes a fix that should remove the “CCS Injection” vulnerability.

However, bear in mind that not all changes apply to every router, therefore make sure you carefully view the complete changelog provided on the description page of each download.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Peplink router, apply it on your device, and enjoy your newly-improved unit.
