Getting ready for the red carpet must be every female star's idea of fun but, sometimes, the results and, most importantly, the reaction they generate, can overshadow the experience. This isn't the case here.
At last night's People's Choice Awards 2012, held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater, there were few misses on the red carpet or, at least, they were not bad enough to get attention from the international media.
Most stars in attendance (yes, we're talking about the ladies here) played it cool, choosing outfits in bold colors and simple designs or, on the contrary, daring designs and simple colors.
The latter were not that spectacular, with some of them actually falling in the hit and miss category, like Lea Michele's white Marchesa stringy dress.
However, stars like
Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Vanessa Hudgens got it right: just the right amount of glamor, the right amount of color, the right amount of eccentricity and the right amount of skin on display.
Miley, who showed up on the red carpet with beau Liam Hemsworth, was the image of grace and sophistication in a cut-out white dress with see-through panels.
It was bold and revealing but, at the same time, ironically
not revealing enough.
The midi dress was by David Koma, while the jewelry was from Neil Lane, shoes from Jimmy Choo and bag by Marchesa.
Miley won major points with fashion gurus for going midi and for pairing the dress with bright fuchsia sparkly shoes.
Demi Lovato was also a sight for sore eyes, opting for a figure-hugging pale Marchesa with heavy bejeweled detail in the front.
It's a known fact that Demi has put on some weight since vouching to live a healthier life (which isn't to say she's fat or overweight) – the dress wonderfully put her curvy figure in the spotlight. She's perfect hourglass.
Vanessa Hudgens also caused a stir on the red carpet, though she didn't even resort to a colorful outfit to get this kind of reaction.
Instead, she wore glittery spiderwebs. This might sound bad in theory, but the execution was, in her case, flawless.
The dress was by Jenny Packham and also featured a slit in the front. Vanessa accessorized with shoes by Casadei shoes and a clutch by Judith Leiber.
