An entire week passed since the heiress Paris Hilton dropped her album like a bomb. But, despite the heavy promotion undertaken all over the world, including live performances and appearances by the artist herself, the Billboard chart never lies.
'Paris' managed to occupy only the sixth position in the American chart, selling 75,000 copies, while (for the sake of comparison) Christina Aguilera's 'Back to Basics' sold in more than 320,000 items in its first week. The first two positions were held by P. Diddy's fabricated band, Danity Kane (215,000 copies) and Outkast (191,000 copies).
Hilton's album also flopped in the United Kingdom, where it barely debuted on the 23rd position. Insiders from the music industry say that, if it did that bad only a week after the release, the future for 'Paris' is extremely grim, as it is expected to 'drop significantly and then slowly fade away'.
And they base this on the fact that Paris is not able to tour to boost album sales and to further promote it. 'The international outlook is not much better for her, the international people are not inclined to do a big push since she can't back up the album with a tour. Obviously, she can't sing live', one source said.

But Hilton's people are, so far, happy with the way things turned out: 'To me, the album sounds huge. For a newcomer, this is incredibly impressive'. It has also been suggested that Paris was advised to see a vocal trainer, a choreographer and to learn to play an instrument so she would be able to start touring soon.
The talented Hilton said a while ago that 'I, like, cry when I listen to it, because it's so good'. Well, the same can be said now about all those disappointed fans, except for that last part: so do they, Paris, so do they...
