A new firmware is now available for Pentax's K-5II and K-5IIs digital cameras. Update number 1.05 optimizes the AF contrast when using HD PENTAX-DA Limited series lenses. In addition to this, the stability for general performance has been improved.

Firmware version 1.05 contains the new changes as well as the ones found in previous releases.

To update, prepare a formatted SD card of at least 32 MB and a fully charged battery for the camera. Next, download the correct archive from the links below, according to the model you own.

Copy the contents of the package to the root folder of the card and insert it in the camera. Make sure the device is turned off before doing so.

Turn the camera on while pressing the “Menu” button. The screen should display a “now loading” message followed by “program update.” You will need to confirm the update by pressing the “OK” button.

The installation procedure will take about 150 seconds and, when it completes, the screen will display a “complete” message and then turn off.

Finally, remove the SD card from the camera and format it for further use.

The latest firmware is available at the links below. Download it in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
