Rumors about Ricoh working on an entry-level DSLR camera called Pentax K-S1 have popped up for the first time a few days ago.

A few photographs were added to the leaked info showing us a camera that looks like a blend between Sony NEX and the Pentax K-r mirror box and viewfinder.

It is also interesting to point out how Ricoh added decorative lights and accents on the camera in numerous spots.

A few days later, the preliminary specifications of the camera have surfaced, showing us that this will indeed be an entry-level DSLR like it was speculated before (as seen at Pentax Forums).

The K-S1 will arrive with a 20-megapixel APS-C sensor, which represents a first for Pentax. Other specs include a 3-inch LCD with 921k dots, ISO range of 100-51,200, 1080/30p video with stereo mic, D-Li109 battery and shake reduction capacity.

It appears that the camera will be marketed in 12 different colors, but so far we only got to check out the grey, white and black versions of the device.

Sources familiar with the matter also say the Pentax K-S1 will be targeted specifically at two audiences: lovers of small DSLRs and those who want a fashionable, stylish camera in their life.

Pricing specifications haven’t been disclosed yet but this information will come soon.
