Version 1.04 tries to correct the unstable performance occurring with the previous release

Pentax has recently released firmware version 1.04 for their K-30 digital camera. This update corrects the unstable performance that may rarely occur in firmware 1.03.

To update, you must first download the new firmware and double-click the executable. It will extract the “bin” file to a specified directory (default is the same folder as the “exe”).

Next, you will need a formatted SD card on which the recently extracted fwdc215b.bin will be copied.

Make sure you have a fully charged battery, put the card in the camera and power it on. In the main menu, go to the “Set-up 3” sub-menu and enter “Firmware Info/Options” screen.

You will now see the current firmware version of the camera and lens. Press the four-way controller to the right to go to the update screen. Select “Start” and press OK.

From here on it's just a matter of how much patience you have. The firmware will flash and the camera will turn off once the installation is complete.

Remove the SD card, format it and use it for further storage.

Below is the link to the firmware. Download, install and stay “updated one minute ago.”
