Pentax has formally launched several cameras, one of which is called Q10 and, despite being a small, pocketable model, still has a mounting system that allows it to change lenses.

Pentax Q10 is about as big as a deck of cards (when the lens is not on) and is accompanied by the Q-Mount PENTAX 06 Telephoto Zoom lens (15-45mm F2.8).

It uses a 12.4-megapixel image sensor, fast autofocus, a collection of image processing tools for personalized images, the ability to record Full HD videos (1080p), a micro-HDMI output to stream such video to displays, and even the capability of outputting video while shooting continues.

Furthermore, the bokeh control function automatically assesses the relative distance between a subject and obtrusive objects in the field of view. Based on this data, the focus is adjusted so that the subject stands out more than everything else.

Pentax fully details the newcomer here and expects prospective buyers to pay $599.95 / 468.78 Euro when shipments begin, this October (2012). The PENTAX-06 Telephoto Zoom lens will ship for $299.95 of its own (234.37 Euro) and the Adapter Q for K-mount lenses for $249.95 / 195.30 Euro.
