The Pentax 645z medium format camera has been in the rumor mill before and is expected to arrive as the successor of the 645D.

Back in February, some of the specifications of the camera made it online and since 4K is the must have feat of most devices launched on the market today, we can tell you that the Pentax 645z will also have 4K video recording capabilities, courtesy of PhotoRumors.

For a quick memory refresh, the Pentax 645z is expected to arrive with a 40-50MP sensor and SAFOX X1 AF Module. It will have a frame rate of 3fps and the highest ISO will reach 102,400 or 204,800.

Word on the street has it that the camera will boast Live view with a possible movie function and shutter life of 100,000. Furthermore, we’re going to see USB 3.0 support for tethered shooting.

And now it was revealed that in addition to the full HD (1920 x 1080 @ 60i and 30p in H.264), the upcoming Pentax 645z camera will also be able to support 4K video recording capabilities (3840 x 2160 pixels).

We can also tell you the date when the device will be made available and that’s April 14. The price will be quite high.
