Back when the medium-format Pentax 645Z was announced, Ricoh revealed the pricing specifications for the device and also said the camera will start shipping out in June 2014.

But for those anxious to know the exact date, Photo Rumors (via Ricoh Japan) reports the first pre-ordered units will start to shipping out to customers starting on June 27.

Note, there’s still no official US release date for the 13 Pentax 645 medium format FA lenses.

The new Pentax 645Z is the successor of the popular medium-format Pentax 645D digital and Pentax 645 film cameras. The device arrives with the same 44x33-milimeter sensor, pretty much like its predecessors. But there’s a difference, as Ricoh has replaced the CCD with CMOS.

Even if before the official announcement the camera was rumored to be able to shoot video in 4K, when it was launched, it turned out this was not the case. Even so, 4K hasn't been completely taken out of the equation as users will be able to create time lapse videos in-camera in 4K.

Anyway, the price tag for this medium-format camera might seem quite chubby ($8,499 / €6,152), but this thought will fade away when you consider the Hasselblad H5D-50c is selling with a price thrice as big.
