Webster was raised by humans, thinks she's one of them

A Humboldt penguin living at Sewerby Hall Zoo in East Yorkshire refuses to go to sleep until keeper John Pickering stops by and gives her a great, big hug.

Apparently, the two came to be this close due to the fact that, shortly after she had been born back in 2002, the penguin was abandoned by her parents.

John Pickering and his family took her in and raised her, which is why Webster is now quite convinced that she is one of them.

“She looks at me like a surrogate dad, so we have a really close bond. Every evening she likes to follow me round, watching me put all the other penguins to bed. It’s like she’s helping me,” John explains, as cited by Daily Mail.

“Then, when it comes to her bedtime, she won’t go to bed without a hug, so I have to put my arm around her and give her a little scratch on her head,” he adds.

Needless to say, John doesn't mind having to tuck Webster in each and every night. After all, she's family, right?
