Matriux 3 RC1, a Debian-based security distribution designed for penetration testing and forensic investigations, has been released and is available for testing.

The developers of Matriux have been rather absent for a while, but they've returned with a version that packs quite a few features.

“Matriux arsenal is divided into sections with a broader classification of tools for Reconnaissance, Scanning, Attack Tools, Frameworks, Radio (Wireless), Digital Forensics, Debuggers, Tracers, Fuzzers and other miscellaneous tool providing a wider approach over the steps followed for a complete penetration testing and forensic scenario,” reads the official announcement.

According to the changelog, a custom kernel 3.9.4 has been implemented (patched with aufs, squashfs and xz filesystem mode), it includes latest tools introduced at Blackhat 2013 and Defcon 2013, and it even included the IPv6 toolset.

Check the announcement for more details about this release. Download Matriux 3 RC1 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
