After years of laughing at the fashion industry jokes depicted in the comedy “Zoolander,” it's time for a sequel. The movie has been rumored for years, ever since the first installment became a viral hit, but only lately have we been getting reports of production actually starting in earnest.

Today, it's been announced that the project headed by Ben Stiller has managed to draw the attention of actress Penelope Cruz who will now appear in the female lead role. Deadline reports that the movie is getting made and that it's going to be based on a script written by Justin Theroux for Paramount Pictures.

Stiller will reprise his role as Derek Zoolander and there are rumors that Will Ferrell also be back as the antagonist Mugatu, not to mention Owen Wilson as the rival model Hansel.

The source goes on to compare the success story of another comedy classic sequel that has just premiered in cinemas, “Dumb and Dumber To” and which went on to take the box office by storm, claiming that “Zoolander 2” also has potential to go far in terms of income.

Stiller has expressed his wish to make the sequel for over a decade but couldn't find the right script or the studio that would finance his project. Finally, the planets have aligned and fans are stoked to see what the comedian will make of the sequel.
