Confirmation is still pending on whether Sam Mendes will return to direct the 24th James Bond film, after “Skyfall,” but, according to a new report, it already has its first Bond girl: Penelope Cruz.

The actress is now pregnant with her second child but, by the time shooting starts next summer, she will have delivered her baby and had time to shed the extra weight.

As the video above – a tribute to all Bond girls – can attest, looking good in 2-piece swimsuits is prerequisite for the job.

“The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now,” an insider tells Yahoo.

“She got back into shape fast after the first baby and will no doubt regain her figure quickly this time. She’ll be a great Bond girl. Bond girls are always brainy as well as [gorgeous], and that’s totally Penelope,” adds the insider.

Next April, Cruz will be 40 which means that, if the above is accurate, she will be the oldest Bond girl in the 50-year history of the film franchise.
