Since most of today's kids pretty much grow up connected to the Internet, there's also a need for specific devices that will enable them access to the World Wide Web in a safe manner, and this is exactly where the PeeWee Power 2.0 comes into play. The portable computing system in question is an entry-level laptop for children aged 3-12 featuring an ultra-compact design and sturdy, drop resistant exterior able to withstand demanding every day use. The PeeWee Power 2.0 is lightweight (under 3lbs) and comes fully loaded with water-resistant keyboard, Windows 7, built-in camera, Microsoft Works 9.0, 15 educational games and two security software suites – PeeWee Patrol and Privacy – to ensure maximum security and protection. To ensure the safest online experience for children, PeeWee Patrol and Privacy allows parents to limit the time children spend browsing and gaming, block inappropriate sites and prevent children from changing system settings. Additionally, the proprietary software allows parents to take screen shots, view browsing history and control the laptop remotely. The tiny, 8.9-inch netbook comes equipped with a 1024 x 600 color LCD TFT, LED Backlight, and on the inside, the PeeWee Power 2.0 offers a fairly standard (actually, even a bit sub-par) configuration, comprised of an Intel Atom processor N270 running at 1.6GHz, accompanied by an Intel 945GSE Chipset, 1GB of DDR2 memory (up to 2GB supported) and a 30GB 1.8" PATA HDD. Additionally, the PeeWee Power 2.0 notebook also features plenty of connectivity options, including here 2 x USB 2.0 Ports, 1 x RJ-45 10/100 LAN, a 1/8-inch External Microphone-in jack, a 1/8-inch External headphone jack, as well as a 2-in-1 SD/MMC memory card reader. Of course, beside the wired LAN interface, the device also sports a built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n module with open mesh support (Linux Only). Plus, similar to any serious netbook available out there, the PeeWee Power 2.0 also comes equipped with Realtek ALC6555 - AC '97 2.1 Integrated Analog Audio, 2 integrated 1 watt speakers, as well as a 0.3 megapixel, 30fps @ 640x480 webcam module. The PeeWee Power 2.0 is now available for $449.99 MSRP, which is a pretty OK price point, all things considered.
