Pebble seems to be working towards refreshing its portfolio

If you’re thinking of purchasing a Pebble smartwatch, you might want to postpone your acquisition, because the company is prepping something big.

MobileGeeks received a few pictures detailing the next-gen Pebble smartwatch and they reveal that the new device will arrive with a color display. That’s pretty good news, isn't it?

For the time being I only have a rendering of the device to show you, so not much information regarding the specs of the device is available, but as soon as they come to my attention, I’ll update the article accordingly.

At the moment, Qualcomm’s Toq smartwatch comes equipped with a color E-ink display (the so-called Mirasol display technology) and now Pebble seems to be adhering to the same standard.

Surely, there’s the possibility that Pebble might renounce using E-Ink displays altogether and opt for an LCD instead. But for the time being this is just speculation, so take what I have told you with a grain of salt.

For now, all you can do is admire the rendering.

The original Pebble smartwatch was released back in 2013 after it received funding via a project that was set up on Kickstarter. The watch can be used up to 7 days on a single charge and is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones.
