Pebble has made available a new firmware package developed for its smartwatches, namely version 2.5, which includes new functionalities, fixes, as well as support for iOS 8.

This new release allows users to dismiss notifications from the watch and phone using the “Select” button (compatible with iOS 8 only), includes support for Compass and Emoji, and fixes various bugs related to Data Logging.

In addition to that, the backlight is changed to “Auto” by default, so now it stays on while the alarm is ringing, the iBeacon App relaunch event is improved, and the accelerometer can be used by more than one client.

Moreover, the ANCS notification processing has been improved, various bluetooth reliability issues are resolved, the firmware update screen can now be backed out, and the SDK receives numerous enhancements, bug fixes, and improved documentation.

Last but not least, the 2.5 update resolves other bugs that caused animations to be slow, allowed invalid dates to be selected in the Date UI, or prevented the “Down” button to scroll through the notification history.

As for applying this firmware, you should know that the producer has provided 3 downloadable packages: one file for Pebble watches with Serial Numbers (SN) starting with Q, one for SN starting with a numeral, and the last file for Pebble Steel devices.

With this in mind, download Pebble SmartWatch Firmware 2.5 or download Pebble Steel SmartWatch Firmware 2.5, apply it on your device, and enjoy the new changes that this release includes.
