Pear OS 8, a distribution based on Ubuntu and Debian that aims to make it easier for Mac OS users to switch to Linux, was released only one day ago, and now it's time to take a closer look at it.

Pear OS 8 is host to a number of unique applications developed specifically for this Linux distribution, and Mac OS users will easily recognize the designed used by Apple.

This is why I called it unoriginal. Although the interface is extremely attractive and very well-designed, it's also extremely similar to the Mac version. Given the mission statement of the distro, it's not a bad thing.

Pear OS 8 also features some elements from the newly released iOS 7 version, but it's actually based on GNOME, and it turns out it's actually easy to transform it into a Mac OS look-alike.

In any case, you can admire the screenshots below and be sure to check back for the review.
