On October 3, David Tavares has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the third and last Beta release of the upcoming Pear OS 8 Linux operating system.

Pear OS 8 Beta 3 uses Linux kernel 3.8.0 and it's based on the unstable branch of Debian GNU/Linux and on the Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) operating system.

The following applications have been updated in this third Beta version of Pear OS 8: My Pear 6, Pear Security, Pear Contacts, Pear Cloud, Pear Updater, and Pear Icons theme.

"As with every new release, packages–applications and software of all kinds–are being updated at a rapid pace. Many of these packages came from an automatic sync from Debian‘s unstable branch; others have been explicitly pulled in for 13.04 Raring Ringtail," said David Tavares in the blog announcement.

As usual, Pear OS 8 Beta 3 is distributed as Live DVD ISO images supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

Download Pear OS 8 Beta 3 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a beta version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
