On August 26, David Tavares has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the first Beta release of the upcoming Pear OS 8 Linux operating system.

Pear OS 8 Beta 1 comes with My Pear 6, Clean My Pear 2, Pear Cloud, Pear PPA Manager 3, Pear Security, Pear Contacts, My Theater, Pear System Info, and Miro was replaced by Musique.

Powered by Linux kernel 3.8.0-29, and based on packages from Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) and Debian‘s unstable branch, Pear OS 8 Beta 1 also includes an updated Pear OS 8 theme, updated Pear OS icon theme, new logo, and updated Plymouth theme.

Moreover, several bugs were fixed in this first Beta release of the upcoming Pear OS 8 Linux distribution, such as an auto login issue, software settings loading issues, empty trash issues on 64-bit edition, and Ubuntu software loading issues.

Pear OS 8 Beta 1 is distributed as Live DVD ISO images for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. More details can be found in the official release announcement.
