A somewhat scary idea, that my look might be worth a specified amount

How many of you use pay-per-view? How many are paid-per-click? Or maybe you have contracts where you are paid-per-link. The term “pay-per-whatever,” has become synonymous to our society.

Get a little for free, pay for the extra content. Well, while normally I don't mind it, a newly discovered patent by Google, entitled “pay-per-gaze” made me reconsider the idea a little bit. The patent would allow Google to use eye tracking and other sensors to measure how long you look at a banner (both online and offline).

And not only measure the time but also your reaction. In turn, Google might then charge companies when you or other users look at their advertisements. According to PCWorld, Google's glasses might also offer augmented reality search results through eye-tracking.

While other patents such as eye gestures might or might not happen, am I the only one that sees “pay-per-gaze” as one of their main projects?
