Luciano Pavarotti, the Italian opera legend, was forced to postpone five June concerts, part of his farewell tour, because of a complication that emerged after a back surgery.
Pavarotti's manager, Terri Robson, declared: "Luciano apologises to his many disappointed fans for having to reschedule these concerts."
"Happily, he is now well on his way to recovery and very much looks forward to continue celebrating his career with the Pavarotti Worldwide Farewell Tour."
Performances at the Canadian cities of Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, and a U.S. date in Washington, have been delayed until October. Dates in Portugal, Brazil, Bosnia Herzegovina and Chile will all be rearranged for the autumn.
Last month, the 70-year-old tenor has declared he expected to recover in time for the June concerts.
His manager said Pavarotti was staying in New York to continue with intensive physical therapy.
