Paulina Rubio Involved in Minor Car Accident, Arrested

Mexican singer Paulina Rubio found herself on the wrong side of the law over the weekend when, because of her unruly behavior following a minor car accident she was involved in, she got herself arrested and summoned to court.

Though she wasn’t to blame for the accident, which was not even that serious to begin with, Rubio still got herself arrested because she got into an altercation with the police officer on the scene, TMZ reports.

No one was injured in the accident and, as per the e-zine, Rubio was not cuffed or taken downtown. Instead, she was cited to appear in court at a later date, which has not been revealed to the press.

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Rubio was involved in an accident just blocks away from the ocean in Miami,” the e-zine reports.

“According to law enforcement, the accident was relatively minor – and Rubio was not at fault – but she got into some kind of argument with officers on scene and was subsequently arrested,” TMZ says.

“We’re told she was busted for disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and refusal to obey a lawful command – but the charges were small enough that Rubio was not taken into custody,” the same media outlet further informs.

In a separate post, TMZ says that Rubio refused to get out of the car when she was told to and that, the moment she was taken out and handcuffed, she began to scream at the top of her lungs that she was victim of police brutality.

The same report also claims that the star lashed out and cursed the police officer in Spanish, and seemed to be out of control.

After an hour or so, Paulina calmed down and apologized for the outburst. She was let go because she told the officers she had “an extenuating circumstance,” namely that she had to get home to breastfeed her 6-month child.
