14 DAY TRIAL // Paula Patton and Robin Thicke announced their separation in February this year, after 9 years of marriage and 22 as a couple. It was a very long and beautiful romance to end, but repeated infidelities had reportedly taken their toll on it.
Since shortly after this, Paula went underground, in the sense that she stopped making public appearances and made it nearly impossible for the paparazzi to track her down. On the other hand, Robin made sure all eyes were on him, as he didn’t just talked and talked about Paula, but actually recorded an entire album about her, begging her to take him back.
She didn’t – and it’s a good thing she didn’t, voices online say, because he was a serial cheater who deserved to be dumped a long time ago. To paraphrase one of the most frequent comments online on the topic, it’s a wonder she lasted this long before breaking up with him.
For the first time in about 6 months, Patton made a public appearance at one of the many post-Emmys 2014 parties. She didn’t walk the red carpet or anything, and she didn’t make a show of it, but even so, she managed to make this appearance, dubbed her post-divorce “comeback” to the spotlight, a truly memorable one.
A little black dress with sheer panels and that went completely see-through with the flashes of the paparazzi helped her do that. You can see it in the photo above: the dress leaves nothing to the imagination, and trust us, this is one of the least revealing shots snapped on the occasion of her outing.
The NY Daily News has those. The e-zine says the dress “suggested she's single and ready to mingle after splitting from her husband, Robin Thicke” because it was typical post-revenge divorce-type of dress. We’d say that Paula has always taken certain fashion risks in her career, and this seems to be just one of those. It’s not like she’s really trying to show Robin what he’s missing, mostly because he already knows it.
Either way, the report notes that she had a blast on her first big outing since the announcement.
“The ‘2 Guns’ actress was seen smiling and chatting with fellow partiers Monday night, and appeared to be carefree about narrowly missing a wardrobe malfunction with her see-through black mini-dress,” the publication says.
About one month ago, Robin admitted that the “Paula” album, with which he hoped to win his wife back, was a bad idea and basically that he’d given up hope on reconciling. Music critics and even his fans agreed with him on that “Paula” was a bad idea.
