Celebrity chef’s video apologies fall on deaf ears, her contract won’t be renewed

Paula Deen and her brother were sued by a former employee for wrongful termination of contract and, in the ongoing litigation, she was accused of often using racial slurs, to which she admitted in court. Today, she is out of a job because of said admission.

Though Deen went in damage control mode right after the scandal blew up in the press, issuing not one but two video apologies, The Food Network remained unmoved by her words.

“The Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month,” a spokesperson for the network says in the briefest of brief statements to TV Guide.

As reported yesterday, the network was “monitoring” the situation, looking into claims that Deen was a racist who would abuse her employees on account of the color of their skin.

It would probably not be too far-fetched to assume that The Food Network thought the association with Deen right now, even if she’s not as bad as she’s portrayed by some media outlets, would only do more damage than good.

Above is her most recent apology. She seems genuine but, tell me, do you believe her and are you willing to forgive her?
